On the nature of True Love…

Darkness is darkest
Without the light
Without the flame
Without the sight
Of someone leading
Whom you cling to, pleading
For mercy— you know —you don’t deserve.

But with that plea, you begin
To see
To know you’re not where you’re meant to be.

Not a flash — nor beam — nor flood
But a glimmer of Truth that by whose blood
You. Were. Loved.

You. Are. Loved.
And that Love is the light that opens the doors
That redeems and overflows until it’s yours
To receive, to grow with, to bear forth
Unto the rest who know not their worth
Because you know
You’ve been there before
You want to show
Them what is in store

The promise eternal, a Love so strong
That it hurts when they tell you, you are wrong,
Not because of your pride or a selfish wound
But because you remember what it means to be
Ruined.
Alone.
Betrayed.
Deep in despair.
Your pain is for them because you care
Because you love
With a Love you desire to share.

A Love that burns brightly and deep in the soul
A Love that restores, the broken made whole.
A Love that died so you could be free
A Love born by Mary, Star of the Sea.

Yes, darkness is darkest
Without the light
But look to the star
In the midst of the night.
