Pope Benedict’s new year homily included what he called the most pressing pastoral need in Rome and throughout the world: “Catholics must reawaken in themselves and in others the longing for God and the joy of living him and bearing witness to him, on the basis of what is always a deeply personal question: why do I believe?” I love this thought and question.
